Attend this Fall's Distance Education Workshop!

Registration now is available for the DETC Distance Education Workshop, Tuesday-Wednesday October 14th and 15th, 2008. This well-attended Workshop is held every even numbered year, and has been held in South Bend since 1968. This is the last Distance Education Workshop taking place at the University of Notre Dame, so don’t miss the opportunity to attend! Registration also is available for the DETC Workshop on Title IV Federal Student Aid being held Monday, October 13.
 
This year’s Workshop Program was designed with your input. A pre-workshop survey was conducted and sessions were created from the most popular topics selected. Click here to see the proposed program.

The DETC Research and Educational Standards Subcommittee will meet at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14th. The first General Session begins at 10:00 a.m. The Workshop concludes with a reception and dinner on Wednesday evening.

After August 10, you can use the code “DETCOCT08” to receive a 10% discount when registering multiple attendees from the same institution.  The Conference registration deadline is Friday, October 3, 2008. DETC reserves the right to refuse attendance for registration requests received after October 3. All Payments must be received in the DETC office prior to the Conference.

The Morris Inn

Rooms are available at The Morris Inn, a small on-campus hotel. The special Workshop rates are just $132/single occupancy and $152/ double. Contact the Morris Inn directly at (574) 631-2000 to reserve a room. Please inform the reservations agent you are with the Distance Education and Training Council. Make your reservation today; the hotel will fill quickly. Reservations must be made before September 13, 2008, to receive the discounted rate.

Federal Aid Workshop Announced

DETC will be conducting a Workshop on Title IV Federal Student Aid Monday, October 13, 2008 at the University of Notre Dame’s Center for Continuing Education.

The Workshop will take place from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Monday. It will feature a presentation by Dr. Sharon Bob, Special Consultant to DETC. Dr. Bob will cover requirements with which institutions must comply when they become eligible to participate in the Title IV programs, and feature a discussion on what is involved when determining a student's eligibility for federal financial aid. In addition, Dr. Bob will discuss the process of applying for eligibility for purposes of student deferments and tax credits and applying for eligibility to participate in the Title IV programs. The Workshop is intended for DETC institutions now participating in federal aid programs, as well as those contemplating applying to the program.

Registration fees are $850 per person for non-members and $550 for member institutions. To register, use the Distance Education Workshop registration page and select the “Title IV Workshop” option.
